The festive season is already on it’s way and all over the world people and cities are will soon be switching on their Christmas lights, hanging up decorations and going on a long holiday after a hard year. For retail business owners, December is the month where sales in most businesses will be higher than the rest of the year, especially for those with exhibition stands set up at all the right events.
Of course, some businesses close over this time because they are so quiet at this time of year. Although it is all well and good to close over the festive season, business owners can still go out and put their name out there to make new clients so that when the New Year arrives there will lots of work waiting.
Over the festive season you might experience a severe shortage in space at expos. That happens because all business owners whose primary source of income is through their display stands know the value of the silly season and wish to make the most of it. Shopping Malls:
Shopping centres and malls can barely cope with the Christmas rush as whole families come to spend days here, looking for presents, stocking up on festive supplies or just socialising. Some shopping malls and centres offer space for businesses to set up their stands to their products and do business as long as it does not interfere with any of the other businesses around it.
Malls are a great place to set up exhibitions, but you should analyze their asking prices before deciding that you will definitely be making use of a particular one. Look at how many estimated visitors the mall received the previous year and compare that with how many people would normally visit your stands at larger exhibitions.
Festivals and Concert Days:
Here we are talking about full length concert or music festival days and not just concerts lasting a couple of hours. Look for events happening in your area and phone the organizers of the event to find out if they allow exhibitors to come and set up portable display stands.
Over December there will be numerous festivals going on all around the country. A lot of these festivals will be sponsoring charities with funds that they raise during the event. If you are selling a consumer product, ask the organizers if you can set up your exhibition there in exchange for becoming a sponsor.
Some of these charity events will not easily let somebody sell and make a profit at their event, in such case you can either suggest using marketing material only and paying a fee to do so or you can increase the amount or percentage of profits you will be donating to the charity.
If you are setting up your stands at a charity event you should be willing to make a difference in the lives of the people that will benefit. If your exhibition is not true to the event and you are only there to make a profit, clients will notice and it will likely have a negative impact on your business.
A Few Last Notes:
- Remember to go and inspect each venue where you are allowed to set up exhibitions and make sure that there is a good space you can use, otherwise it won’t be worth it.
- Most of importantly, confirm with the organizers that you will in fact be able to use that particular spot.
- Keep in mind that the people attending these events will be in a different mindset to those visiting an organized trade shows and exhibitions; up your stands and prepare marketing ideas accordingly.
